The short version
Sturdy has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no server of ours. Your sessions, protein logs, strength checks, journal entries and medication records are stored in the app's storage on your iPhone. We don't receive them.
The one exception is optional Sturdy Pro purchases: Apple and our subscription processor RevenueCat handle purchases using an anonymous identifier. Your health and training records are never part of that.
Who we are
Sturdy is published by its independent developer. Contact: ran.gray.james@gmail.com.
What the app stores on your device
- Your weekly plan, preferences (experience, equipment, session length) and movements you've marked uncomfortable
- Completed sessions: movements, reps or seconds, resistance you record, effort and notes
- Protein entries, custom foods, saved meals and saved packaged products, with where each value came from
- Strength-check results (such as the 30-second chair stand) with conditions and notes
- Optional medication records: name, prescribed and actual dose as you enter them, dates, injection site if applicable, and notes
- Optional journal entries and questions for your clinician
- Settings such as reminders, meal periods, theme and sounds
This information isn't transmitted to us or anyone else, sold, or used for advertising. It may be included in your own iPhone or iCloud backups, which your Apple account controls.
Notifications
If you turn on workout or medication reminders, they're scheduled locally on your iPhone by iOS. No reminder content is sent to a server. You can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings.
Camera
If you choose to read a nutrition label or scan a barcode, Sturdy asks for camera access. Frames are processed on your device using Apple's built-in text and barcode recognition, only while the scanner is open. Photos aren't saved or uploaded. Recognized label values are shown for you to confirm before anything is saved. Barcodes are matched only against products you've saved yourself; there's no online food database lookup.
Apple Health
Sturdy 1.1 does not read from or write to Apple Health.
Exports you create
Appointment summaries (PDF) and data exports (CSV) are generated on your device. The iOS share sheet lets you choose exactly where they go. Sturdy never sends them anywhere on its own. Once you share a file, the recipient's handling applies.
Purchases (Sturdy Pro)
Payment is handled by Apple through your App Store account. Sturdy never sees your name, email, card or Apple ID.
To check whether your subscription is active, Sturdy uses RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives your App Store purchase information for this app, tied to a random anonymous identifier generated on your device, plus basic technical data needed to process it (such as app version and device type). It isn't linked to your identity or used for advertising or tracking. See revenuecat.com/privacy.
Third parties
Apart from Apple's App Store and RevenueCat for subscription status, the app contains no third-party SDKs, analytics libraries, ad networks or crash-reporting services.
This website
The website has no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and no forms that collect personal information. The free planner and protein checklist save only in your browser's local storage, and you can clear them by clearing site data. Our hosting provider processes standard technical request data (such as IP address) to deliver pages securely. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives standard request data.
Security
Records are stored in the app's sandboxed storage and protected by iOS data protection while your device is locked with a passcode. Sturdy doesn't add its own end-to-end encryption, and we don't claim it does. Keeping a device passcode enabled is the best protection.
Retention, export and deletion
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. In Settings you can export all records as CSV or delete all data. Deleting the app also deletes its data. Because we hold no copy, there's nothing for us to delete or recover.
Children
Sturdy is intended for adults and isn't directed at children under 13.
Your rights
Privacy laws in many regions give rights to access, correct, export and delete personal data. For records in the app, you can do all of these directly on your device. For purchase data held by Apple or RevenueCat, contact them or us and we'll help.
Changes
If we change how data is handled, we'll update this page and the effective date, and explain the change in App Store release notes before it applies.
